How we install
Our process, start to finish.
From the first walkthrough to the final handoff, here's exactly how a Bearcat Turf install happens. No mystery steps, no hidden shortcuts.
Free on-site walkthrough
We come to your property, walk the space, take measurements, and talk about how you use the yard. We ask questions about drainage, pets, kids, foot traffic, existing landscape, and anything quirky about the lot. No sales pitch. No pressure.
Fixed-price quote
We send a written fixed-price quote with an itemized scope: base prep depth, turf product, infill type, seam placement, edging, and any extras like stepping stones or inlaid pavers. The price we quote is the price you pay.
Schedule and deposit
Once you approve the quote, we schedule the install. Deposit is typically 25-40% to secure materials and your spot on the calendar. We never ask for more than 50% up front — anyone who does is not an honest actor in this market.
Sod and debris removal
We excavate 3-4 inches of existing sod, dirt, and any legacy landscape material that is in the way. We haul it off. Your yard is clean by end of day one.
Base prep
This is the most important part of the whole install and the part most competitors cut corners on. We bring in a graded, compactable crushed-stone base, laid in lifts and compacted with a plate compactor to prevent settling. We grade for drainage — Texas rains are real and a flat base becomes a puddle.
Turf install
Turf gets rolled out, seamed together with adhesive plus pinning, and trimmed to match your borders. Seams are placed away from high-traffic zones. Edges get reinforced with bender board, pinned steel, or hardscape transitions depending on the install.
Infill and brushing
Infill is brushed into the turf fibers to weight them down and keep them upright. We power-brush the whole install so fibers stand up the way they should, then do a final cleanup walk. You get a yard, not a construction site.
Final walkthrough
We walk the install with you. Check seams, check drainage slope, check edges. You approve the work. You pay the balance. We leave.
Warranty and follow-up
15-year manufacturer product warranty on the turf. 1-year installation warranty from us. If anything settles, lifts, or looks off in the first year, we come back and fix it — no questions.
What this process does NOT include.
- A deposit over 50%. If anyone asks for most of the job's money up front, that is a red flag.
- Subcontracted install crews. Bearcat has its own crews. The same people install every project we put down.
- Surprise change orders. Your quote is the final price unless YOU change the scope.
- "Good enough" base work. We excavate to depth and compact properly. A shortcut-prep install looks fine for six months and then lifts and puddles for the next fifteen years.
- A jobsite you have to clean up. We haul off every scrap of debris. You step out onto a yard, not a mess.
