BBB Accredited · Commercial warranty · COI available · Install without closing
Outdoor commercial spaces that stay green without the work.
Natural grass and commercial outdoor spaces are a difficult combination in DFW. Heavy foot traffic kills natural turf fast, and summer heat turns brown by July regardless of irrigation. Property managers and restaurant operators end up with either a maintenance contract that never fully solves the problem or a patchy, uninviting outdoor area that underperforms as an amenity.
Artificial turf eliminates the cycle. A Bearcat commercial install uses commercial-grade product rated for the foot traffic and UV exposure of an outdoor business setting, installed over a proper base that handles Texas drainage demands. The result is an outdoor space that looks professionally maintained on a Tuesday in August as well as a Saturday in October. No irrigation bill, no mowing contract, no annual replanting after a dry summer.
Commercial applications Bearcat installs.
Outdoor dining and restaurant patios
A turf patio creates an inviting outdoor dining space that looks the same in August as it does in April. No irrigation, no mowing, no seasonal replanting. Installs without closing the restaurant.
Breweries and taproom outdoor areas
DFW has one of the fastest-growing brewery scenes in Texas. Bearcat has installed at brewery and taproom outdoor spaces where a natural lawn cannot survive the summer foot traffic.
Retail center entryways and common areas
Green landscaping that requires no irrigation contract or mowing schedule. Stays photogenic year-round and reduces the ongoing property maintenance burden for retail centers.
Dog-friendly retail and shopping areas
Pet-friendly retail and mixed-use developments use turf to create designated dog areas that are easy to maintain and visually appealing to the customer base that brings dogs.

Retail and commercial turf questions, answered.
How much does commercial turf cost for retail and restaurant applications? +
Retail and restaurant patio installs typically run $12 to $18 per square foot installed. Smaller high-finish installs (brewery taproom patios, restaurant feature areas) tend toward the higher end due to pattern cutting, curved edges, and paver inlay work. Large retail center common areas and simple rectangular installs can come in closer to $11 to $14 per sqft. Bearcat provides a fixed-price proposal after a site visit, with the price locked at signing.
Can artificial turf handle heavy foot traffic in commercial retail settings? +
Yes, when the right product is specified. Retail and hospitality applications require a commercial-grade turf with 80 oz or higher face weight, a blade that resists matting under repeated foot traffic, and a reinforced backing designed for commercial use. Bearcat does not install residential-grade products in commercial settings. The products we specify for retail and restaurant applications carry commercial traffic ratings and have been tested for the type of concentrated foot traffic that restaurant patios and retail entryways see.
How long does a retail turf install take, and can it be done without closing? +
Most restaurant patio and retail entryway installs complete in 1 to 3 days. Larger retail center common area projects run 3 to 7 days. Bearcat schedules commercial retail installs to minimize disruption: early morning starts, work contained to the install area, and equipment and debris removed each evening. We have completed restaurant patio installs without requiring the dining room to close.
What product is best for outdoor dining and brewery patio areas? +
Outdoor dining and taproom areas benefit from a medium-pile turf with a natural olive-green color and a thatch layer that provides a premium visual quality under lighting. The product needs to handle chair leg contact, barstool legs, and server foot traffic without premature matting. Silica sand infill is standard for these applications because it does not track into the interior and stays in place under high foot traffic. Bearcat can also do barefoot-comfort installs on elevated or covered patios where clients want the softness of turf underfoot.
Does Bearcat handle permitting for commercial retail turf installs? +
In most retail and restaurant applications, artificial turf installation does not require a building permit because it is a surface replacement rather than structural construction. Bearcat handles the install within the existing footprint. If a landlord, property manager, or municipality requires a permit, Bearcat can coordinate with the property owner on the application. We carry general liability insurance and can name the property owner or management company as additional insured on the COI.
How does commercial turf hold up in DFW summer heat at an outdoor patio or retail space? +
Commercial turf performs consistently in DFW heat from a durability standpoint: the fibers and backing are UV-stabilized to resist fading and degradation. Surface temperature is warmer than natural grass in direct sun, which is relevant for barefoot-contact areas like pool decks but less of a concern for shoe-contact retail and restaurant surfaces. For patios where guests will be barefoot or where children play, Bearcat recommends shade coverage or a lighter-colored product that reflects more heat. Commercial products carry a 10-year warranty that covers UV performance.
