Oklahoma · 3 to 5 hours from Aledo

We build baseball fields, sports fields, and indoor facilities in Oklahoma.

Fields, cages, and indoor facilities. Oklahoma City is closer to Aledo than Houston is, so cage programs travel here too.

What we build in Oklahoma

5 kinds of project travel here.

Minimum project size

A school or facility cage program, an infield conversion, or any field or indoor build. A single backyard cage does not cover the drive.

We say this up front because it saves everyone a call. If your project is smaller, tell us anyway and we will point you to the spec so a local crew can build it.

The Oklahoma market

Why Oklahoma is on our map.

  • Oklahoma City is the softball capital of the country: USA Softball headquarters, the Women's College World Series, and a youth fast-pitch pipeline that keeps every field in the metro booked.
  • Fall softball and spring baseball put two seasons on the same fields, and the travel calendar fills the gaps.
  • Oklahoma is the only state outside Texas where our cage programs travel. The OKC metro is closer to our shop than Houston is.

Soil, climate, and spec

What changes about the build in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma red clay is a different animal from the Texas Blackland. It is iron-rich Permian clay, slightly less plastic than ours but just as unforgiving when it is wet, and it sits under a thinner topsoil layer across the central and western counties. The base section still needs stabilization or replacement where the plasticity index says so, and the drainage needs to handle the kind of three-inch May storm that shows up most years.

Wind is the number that changes the netting spec. Central and western Oklahoma see sustained winds that most national cage and backstop designs are not rated for. We size post embedment, cable tension, and net panel breaks for the site, and we tell you when a facility netting system needs to come down in a severe-weather season instead of pretending it will ride it out.

Winter is short but real. Freeze-thaw cycles in the northern tier mean deeper aggregate and a frost-aware edge detail on outdoor fields. Indoor facilities benefit from the same short season: a January hitting lane in Tulsa fills faster than one in Fort Worth.

For the base-prep and drainage principles behind every field we build, see our sports field guides and spec library.

Governing bodies

Who sets the rules for Oklahoma fields.

OSSAA

Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association

Public and member private school athletics. NFHS field rules. Baseball is a spring sport and fast-pitch softball runs in the fall, so the same complexes carry two seasons.

How Oklahoma buyers procure

How public buyers in Oklahoma usually procure.

Oklahoma school districts have statutory authority to participate in or sponsor cooperative purchasing agreements with other public agencies, including open-ended state contracts. Where that does not fit, districts run their own bids under the Oklahoma Public Competitive Bidding Act.

  • TIPS, which many Oklahoma districts already belong to, including its synthetic turf category.
  • Sourcewell and OMNIA Partners cooperative contracts for athletic surfacing, where the district has joined.
  • State contracts through OMES, where one covers the scope.
  • Direct sealed bid under the Public Competitive Bidding Act for construction above the statutory threshold. We respond to the district's own spec through our Spec Desk.

Where Bearcat fits

We are HUB Certified and we respond to sealed bids, RFPs, and written quote requests. A cooperative contract only works through a vendor awarded on it, so if your district requires one, ask us first. We will tell you plainly whether we hold an award.

Purchasing rules change. Confirm the current route with your district or city purchasing office before you draft a solicitation, and send us the spec once you have it.

Logistics

How a Oklahoma project actually works.

Oklahoma City is three hours up I-35 from Aledo and Tulsa is four and a half. Our crews treat the OKC metro like a far DFW suburb: drive up Monday, work the week, drive home Friday. Lodging and travel are built into one fixed-price scope.

Freight is a non-issue. Turf ships from the mill to the site, and local aggregate and concrete are sourced in-state. Netting and cage steel travel with the crew. Field projects in Oklahoma run the same two- to ten-week schedules they do in Texas.

Oklahoma FAQ

Common questions from Oklahoma buyers.

Do you build backyard batting cages in Oklahoma?

Not one at a time. A school or facility cage program, a barn or metal-building conversion, or any field or indoor build is worth the trip. If you are a homeowner in Edmond with one cage in mind, we are glad to point you to the spec and the Cimarron package so a local crew can install it.

How do you handle Oklahoma wind on netting?

We design the post embedment, cable tension, and panel breaks for the site's wind exposure rather than using a national default, and we tell you up front whether a given netting system needs a seasonal takedown plan.

Can an Oklahoma district buy through a cooperative?

Oklahoma law lets districts participate in cooperative purchasing agreements with other public agencies. A cooperative contract only helps if the vendor holds an award on it. Ask us before you plan around one: we will tell you plainly whether we hold an award, and if we do not, we respond to sealed bids, RFPs, and written quote requests.

Have a Oklahoma project on the board?

Tell us the sport, the site, and the timeline. We start with a virtual consult over video so nobody drives 3 hours before the budget makes sense. Response within one business day.
