BEARCAT TURF & OUTDOORS

For private school athletic directors

Turf and netting projects sized to one field, one cage, or one net.

Convert an infield to turf. Refresh the turf in a cage that's had the same carpet since it was built. Turf the sidelines at your football field. Build a new cage. Replace nets that are past their life. Real athletic-grade product, no five-year capital plan or board vote required.

Not every project needs to be a campus overhaul.

Most of what we build for private-school programs isn't a multi-year capital plan. It's a single infield that needs turf before next season, a cage that's had the same carpet since it was built, a football field where the sideline turns to mud every Friday, or nets that have been patched twice already.

These are exactly the projects we're set up to move on fast: a site walk, a fixed-price proposal for the one thing you called about, and a crew that installs the turf and rigs the netting itself, not a subcontracted afterthought.

Six projects we get called for most.

Convert a baseball infield to turf

Mound, plate, and base paths off natural dirt and onto a laser-graded, drainage-first turf base. The single highest-leverage project for cutting rainouts and the weekly infield drag.

Artificial turf home plate & batter's box

The smallest way to stop re-dragging the highest-wear spot on the field. Turf plate and batter's box built on the same base spec as a full infield conversion, so it isn't wasted work if the rest of the infield gets converted later.

Cross-section of foam-backed hitting-zone turf used in batting cage installs

Batting cage turf replacement or upgrade

The batter's box mats down years before the frame or netting wears out. We pull the old turf and re-install to current spec, TurfHub Performance Pro or a heavier commercial fiber, without touching the poles or the net.

Turfed sidelines at a football field

The strip where players, benches, and equipment carts turn grass to mud by October. Turf just that section on the same drainage-first base as a full field, without converting the whole playing surface.

Cimarron steel-pole batting cage frame installed on a field, before netting goes on

Build a batting cage

New single, double-wide, or triple-wide cage from bare ground: steel-pole frame, Cimarron netting, turf hitting zone, plate mat. Most cages run 1 to 3 weeks once materials are staged.

Batting cage builds →

Replace aging nets on a batting cage

The frame usually outlives the net by years. If yours is sagging, sun-bleached, or patched more than once, we re-net to current Cimarron gauge on the existing frame, no rebuild required.

Built with the same brands high school programs already trust.

We're not installing a house-brand turf or a no-name net. Every project on this page uses product from Cimarron Sports, TurfHub, or Superior Turf Supply, the same suppliers and the same grade of product specified on competitive high school-level fields and cages. A single batter's box refresh gets the same spec sheet as a full field conversion.

Cimarron Sports branded catcher backstop screen with baseball and football cutout targets

Cimarron Sports

Cage frames, netting, screens, and training aids since the 1990s. Bearcat is an authorized Cimarron dealer, so a single net replacement comes off the same catalog as a full varsity cage build.

TurfHub

Our primary turf mill for field and cage product: All Play USA for infields and sidelines, Performance Pro for cage hitting zones. Same 2025-series spec sheet whether the job is one batter's box or a full field.

Superior Turf Supply

A second mill we spec when its product is the better fit for a specific surface. Not tied to one supplier means the spec fits the project, not whatever happens to be on the truck.

Why private schools work with Bearcat differently than an ISD would.

Sized to one project, not a campus plan

A single infield, a single cage, a single net job. Most of what we build for private-school programs is exactly this scale, not a multi-year capital plan requiring board approval.

No public-bid process required

One conversation with your AD or business office, a site walk, and a signed proposal. (We are HUB Certified and carry public-sector documentation for schools that want it on file anyway.)

Fast turnaround before a season

Most single-project jobs, a cage re-turf, a net replacement, a batter's box, run 1 to 3 weeks once materials are staged. Get us the site walk 60 to 90 days ahead of a season and we can usually hit the date.

One warranty, one point of contact

15-year manufacturer turf warranty and a 1-year Bearcat workmanship warranty on every job, whatever the size, documented for the school's facilities file.

Recent school and athletic-field work.

Bearcat installed a 6,000 SF playground turf conversion at Perfect Praise Academy in Fort Worth, and has built sport-grade turf fields, batting cages, and the netting for both across DFW. We're an authorized Cimarron Sports dealer and HUB Certified through the Texas Comptroller, with the insurance and bonding documentation institutional buyers ask for, even outside a public-bid setting.

How a single project actually goes.

  • 1.Site walk focused on the one project you called about, an infield, a cage, a net job.
  • 2.Written, fixed-price proposal, usually turned around within a few days of the walkthrough.
  • 3.Install scheduled around your season, most single-project jobs run days to a few weeks once materials are staged.
  • 4.Warranty documentation and COI naming the school as additional insured, handed off for the facilities file.

Questions athletic directors ask.

Do we have to commit to a whole-campus project, or can we just do one thing? +

Just one thing is the normal request. Most of what we build for private-school programs is a single infield, a single cage, or a single net replacement, not a campus-wide plan. Bring up anything else you're thinking about at the walkthrough and we'll note it, but there's no obligation to scope more than the one project you called about.

We're not going through a public bid process. Can you still work with us? +

Yes, that's the normal path for private schools. Most of our school work starts with a direct conversation with the athletic director or business office rather than an RFP. We'll still put together a written, fixed-price proposal and full documentation (insurance, warranty terms, references), but there's no procurement bureaucracy required to get started.

Is this the same turf and netting you'd use on a full varsity field, or a lighter spec because it's a small job? +

Same spec. A batter's box refresh or a single net replacement gets product off the same Cimarron, TurfHub, or Superior Turf Supply line as a full field or cage build, competition-grade fiber and commercial-gauge netting, not a step-down backyard product because the job is small.

What netting do you actually use? +

Cimarron commercial-grade twisted poly, not the hardware-store #21 net that shreds inside of a season. #45 is standard for cages, backstops, and barrier netting; #60 high-velocity net for programs running pitching machines at 80+ mph or fall-ball showcases. Frame and rigging are sized to the netting, not the other way around.

Our cage frame is fine, we just need new nets. Is that worth a call? +

Yes, it's one of the more common calls we get. If the frame and poles are sound, we re-net to current Cimarron gauge without touching the structure, usually a 1 to 2 day job depending on cage size.

What's the timeline for a batting cage, infield, or net job before a season starts? +

Net replacements and cage turf refreshes typically run a few days to 2 weeks. New cages run 1 to 3 weeks. Infield conversions run 2 to 6 weeks depending on scope. The tight part is usually lead time before the crew starts: for anything you want done before a specific season, get us the site walk 60 to 90 days ahead so turf and netting are ordered and staged in time.

Can you also finish the concrete floor around a cage? +

Yes, through our coatings partner Professional Garage Concepts (DFW, since 2001). Flake or solid-color epoxy on the walkway or dugout floor around the cage. We pass through their published rate with no markup: flake starts at $5.25/SF, solid color at $6.25/SF, $2,500 minimum. Every job starts with a site evaluation and PGC confirms the final system and firm price after seeing the slab.

Let's talk about your project.

One infield, one cage, one net job, or all of the above. Send us what you're working with and we'll reply within 1 business day to schedule a walkthrough.
