Parks of Aledo full backyard: 2,900 SF of Rymar TriBlend that disappears into the greenbelt

Bearcat renovated a full Parks of Aledo backyard for a family with two boys and two puppies: 2,900 SF of Rymar TriBlend 70 turf chosen to blend into the greenbelt on two sides, drainage tied in below the turf, plus a new concrete pad and brick screen wall for the trash cans.

The project

A full backyard renovation in Parks of Aledo for a family that actually uses their yard: two boys and two puppies. That combination is the whole brief. The surface has to take cleats, hoses, dog traffic, and everything two kids invent on a Saturday, and still look like a finished yard the rest of the time. We rebuilt the entire backyard around 2,900 square feet of Rymar TriBlend 70 artificial turf, a 70 oz, moderate-to-heavy-traffic landscape turf with a 15-year warranty.

Blending into the greenbelt

This lot backs up to green space on two sides. That changes how you pick turf. When a yard opens onto natural landscape, the wrong turf reads as a bright green rectangle stapled onto the scenery. The goal here was the opposite: the lawn should feel like it belongs to the same view, not fight it.

That is why we specified Rymar TriBlend 70. It is a true three-tone blend, mixing Emerald, Olive, and Sand colored fibers, each one unique in color and size, finished with a bi-color tan-and-green thatch layer underneath. That combination mimics the color variation of a real lawn instead of the flat, uniform green that gives cheaper turf away. The fibers themselves are multi 3D-shaped, “W”, “V”, and flat blades, so they catch light the way real grass does rather than throwing a plastic sheen. Standing at the back fence, the eye moves from the greenbelt to the lawn without a hard line between them. On a lot like this, that blend is the point.

It also handles the two-boys-two-puppies reality underneath the looks. At 70 oz face weight on a polyurethane backing, it is rated for moderate to heavy traffic, so the pile and backing take heavy foot and paw traffic, and the base we build under it drains fast and stays put.

Drainage done right

A 2,900 SF backyard that backs onto green space has to move water, and it has to move it off the property instead of pooling against the house or washing into the neighbor’s land. We tied multiple drains into the system and ran them below the turf, so the water leaves underground and the surface stays usable.

This is the part nobody sees and the part that determines whether a yard holds up. Turf laid over a base that does not drain is a problem waiting for the first hard North Texas rain. The TriBlend 70 surface drains at about 28 inches of rain per hour on its own, but turf drainage only matters if the water has somewhere to go once it is through, which is what the tied-in drains and the base handle. Here the drainage was engineered first, then the turf went down on top of it.

A trash-can enclosure that matches the work

Two smaller builds finished the yard. We poured a new concrete pad to give the trash cans a clean, level home off the lawn, and we built a small brick wall to screen them. It is a minor detail in square footage and a major one in how the finished space reads. The cans are handled, hidden, and out of the sightline, instead of parked on the grass.

What a project like this costs

A full Parks of Aledo backyard at this scope in 2026 Bearcat pricing:

  • Turf install (base, drainage, premium product): roughly $8 to $14 per square foot all-in, depending on site complexity and final square footage
  • Engineered drainage tie-ins: varies with the number of drains and how far water has to travel to leave the property
  • Hardscape (concrete pad and brick screen wall): quoted per build, based on size and materials

Before

What we started with.

A new build with a blank backyard: bare dirt, patchy weeds, and exposed caliche running back to the greenbelt. The drainage basins were set, but there was no surface tying any of it together, and nothing the boys or the puppies could actually use.
