What a Bearcat green includes

Every putting green build starts with the base. We engineer contour into the sub-base before the turf goes down — 8 to 15 feet of honest break across a proper green so the putts read like they would at a course. Drainage is tighter than on residential turf (greens puddle the moment drainage fails): 3-4 inches of decomposed granite compacted in two lifts, laser-graded to a 1-2% slope, often with a perimeter French drain system tied into a daylighting point.

On top of the base goes tour-grade nylon-blend putting green fiber, brushed infill tuned to the target stimp speed, brass cups set to regulation 4.25-inch diameter, real flags, and a chipping fringe with different fiber and height to create the visual transition that real greens have.

Stimp speed — tuned to your game

Stimp speeds between 8 and 12 are all within the range of modern nylon fiber. We settle on your target during the walkthrough:

• Stimp 8-9 — forgiving, family-use. Kids and casual guests can still sink putts.
• Stimp 10-11 — most-installed tier. Reads like a well-kept municipal or country-club green.
• Stimp 12+ — tour-standard. For committed golfers playing 10+ rounds a month who want the green to truly test their short game.

Typical Bearcat green builds

• Small practice pad (under 400 SF) — 1-3 cups, flat or slight contour. $5,000-$8,000 fully installed.
• Multi-cup backyard green (400-800 SF) — real contour, chipping collar, 3-5 cups. $9,000-$14,000.
• Full short-game complex (800+ SF) — multiple greens, chipping areas, and sometimes a practice bunker. Custom quoted.
