Cost by field size.

Cost scales with turfed area, and the area is bigger than the pitch itself: add about 10 feet of run-off on every side. Two columns below: turf scope ($8.50 to $11.00 per sqft: curb, drainage, stone base, shock pad, turf, infill, testing, equipment, subgrade by others) and full turnkey ($13 to $22 per sqft: adds subgrade, storm tie-in, fencing, lighting, accessories).

Field Dimensions Turfed area Turf scope Full turnkey
9v9 (U11 to U12)Small areas land in the upper half of the per-sqft range because mobilization and bonds spread over fewer square feet. 70 × 50 yd ≈ 39,000 sqft $330K–$430K $510K–$860K
11v11 high schoolNFHS-size pitch with about 10 ft of run-off on every side. 110 × 70 yd ≈ 80,000 sqft $680K–$880K $1.0M–$1.8M
Soccer + football multi-useBoth sports inlaid on one surface, plus end zones and sideline space. ≈ 360 × 210 ft envelope ≈ 100,000 sqft $850K–$1.1M $1.3M–$2.2M
Two-field complexOur recent two-field bid was about 212,000 sqft at $9.00 per sqft turf scope. Two full-size fields ≈ 200,000 sqft $1.7M–$2.2M $2.6M–$4.4M

Planning ranges, not quotes. Smaller formats (7v7 and mini-pitches) price differently; see our mini-pitch guide.

Why a $5 to $6 quote is not the same field.

Public district bid results show carpet replacement on an existing, sound base at about $5.10 to $5.75 per square foot, and new builds or conversions at $11.40 to $14.50. A new build includes the concrete curb, drainage, stone base, and sitework that replacement skips. Hold any bidder to a written exclusions list before you compare totals.

Reference point from a recent Bearcat bid: a two-field soccer complex in the western DFW metroplex, roughly 212,000 square feet, priced at $9.00 per square foot for the turf installation scope, just over $1.9M with subgrade by others.

Soccer field cost questions

How much does a turf soccer field cost? +

In DFW in 2026, the turf installation scope (concrete curb, drainage, stone base, shock pad, turf, infill, testing) runs $8.50 to $11.00 per square foot. A full-size 110 × 70 yard field is about 80,000 square feet with run-off, so roughly $680,000 to $880,000 at that scope. Adding standard subgrade work moves the range to $10 to $14 per square foot, and a full turnkey build with fencing, lighting, and storm tie-in runs $13 to $22.

How big is a regulation soccer field? +

A high school (NFHS) 11v11 pitch is typically 110 × 70 yards, or 330 × 210 feet, about 69,300 square feet of playing surface. With about 10 feet of run-off on each side, plan for roughly 80,000 square feet of turf. A 9v9 field is commonly 70 × 50 yards and a 7v7 field 50 × 40 yards.

Why do some quotes say $5 or $6 per square foot? +

Those are almost always carpet replacement prices: new turf laid over an existing base that is still sound. Public district bid results show replacements at about $5.10 to $5.75 per square foot, while new builds and conversions have come in at $11.40 to $14.50. New construction includes the curb, drainage, stone base, and sitework that replacement skips.

What makes the price move inside the range? +

Subgrade conditions on North Texas clay (stabilization or a non-expansive cap per the geotech report), shock pad thickness, turf face weight, infill choice (organic runs about $0.40 to $0.80 per square foot more than sand and rubber), the number of sports inlaid, and drainage design. Fencing, lighting, and storm tie-in can add $3 to $8 per square foot on their own.

How long does it take to build a turf soccer field? +

About 5 to 6 weeks of active construction for a single field once the subgrade is delivered, and 8 to 10 weeks for a two-field complex. Spring builds need extra float for North Texas rain.

What is not included in a turf installer's price? +

Subgrade and earthwork, civil storm tie-in beyond the stub-out, electrical and sports lighting, fencing and netting, irrigation changes, goals and accessories, and third-party geotech or compaction testing are normally by others.
