We build baseball fields, sports fields, and indoor facilities in Kansas.
Fields and indoor facilities. Wichita is a long day's drive; Kansas City and the rest of the state are multi-week facility jobs.

Minimum project size
A multi-field program or an indoor facility. Single infields and cage-only work do not travel here.
We say this up front because it saves everyone a call. If your project is smaller, tell us anyway and we will point you to the spec so a local crew can build it.
The Kansas market
Why Kansas is on our map.
- Wichita has hosted the NBC World Series since 1935. Baseball runs deep here, and the facility stock is older than the demand.
- The Kansas City suburbs on the Kansas side are among the fastest-growing in the Midwest, with travel-ball organizations looking for indoor space.
- A short outdoor season means indoor baseball and softball facilities fill from November through March.
Soil, climate, and spec
What changes about the build in Kansas.
Kansas is a freeze-thaw state. Frost depth runs about three feet across much of the state, and a turf field base that is not designed for it heaves at the seams and the perimeter curb within a few winters. We spec a deeper, well-drained aggregate section, a frost-aware edge detail, and drainage that does not rely on a shallow collector that will be in the frost zone in January.
Soils range from loess and glacial till in the northeast to clay-heavy prairie soils around Wichita. Neither is as plastic as Texas clay, but both hold water, and the drainage design drives the base section.
Wind is constant. Netting systems, backstops, and any outdoor facility netting are designed for the site's exposure, and we tell you when a system needs a seasonal takedown plan.
For the base-prep and drainage principles behind every field we build, see our sports field guides and spec library.
Governing bodies
Who sets the rules for Kansas fields.
KSHSAA
Kansas State High School Activities Association
Public and member private school athletics under NFHS field rules. Baseball runs in the spring and softball in the fall, with a short outdoor window around both, which is why indoor facilities carry the winter.
How Kansas buyers procure
How public buyers in Kansas usually procure.
Kansas school districts and cities buy construction through competitive bidding under state law and local board policy, and many have adopted cooperative purchasing through the national cooperatives. The district's own policy decides which route applies.
- Direct sealed bid through the district or city. We respond to the owner's own spec through our Spec Desk.
- Sourcewell and OMNIA Partners cooperative contracts for athletic surfacing and construction services, where the district has joined.
- Regional cooperatives in the Kansas City metro, where the district participates.
Where Bearcat fits
We are HUB Certified and we respond to sealed bids, RFPs, and written quote requests. A cooperative contract only works through a vendor awarded on it, so if your district requires one, ask us first. We will tell you plainly whether we hold an award.
Purchasing rules change. Confirm the current route with your district or city purchasing office before you draft a solicitation, and send us the spec once you have it.
Logistics
How a Kansas project actually works.
Wichita is five and a half hours north of Aledo on I-35 and the Kansas Turnpike, which makes it a week-long mobilization. The Kansas City metro and Topeka are eight hours, and western Kansas is comparable, so those are multi-week facility projects with the crew housed on site for the duration.
Local aggregate and concrete are strong across the state. Turf ships from the mill. Netting and cage steel travel with the crew. We plan Kansas outdoor work for the April-to-October window and indoor builds for the rest of the year.

Kansas FAQ
Common questions from Kansas buyers.
What do you build in Kansas?
Multi-field programs and indoor facilities. A single infield or a standalone cage does not cover the mobilization from Texas; a complex, a district program, or an indoor baseball or multi-sport facility does.
When do you build outdoor fields in Kansas?
April through October. Base work in a frozen subgrade is how fields fail, so we plan outdoor work for the warm months and indoor facility builds for the rest of the year.
Can a Kansas district buy through Sourcewell or OMNIA?
Where the district has joined and board policy allows it, yes, but only through a vendor awarded on that contract. A cooperative contract only helps if the vendor holds an award on it. Ask us before you plan around one: we will tell you plainly whether we hold an award, and if we do not, we respond to sealed bids, RFPs, and written quote requests.
Have a Kansas project on the board?
Tell us the sport, the site, and the timeline. We start with a virtual consult over video so nobody drives 5.5 hours before the budget makes sense. Response within one business day.
Other states we build in
Where we build
Texas projects
Everything we build, anywhere in the state. DFW is home base; the rest of Texas is a drive, not a flight.
Where we build
Oklahoma projects
Fields, cages, and indoor facilities. Oklahoma City is closer to Aledo than Houston is, so cage programs travel here too.
Where we build
Louisiana projects
Fields and indoor facilities. Shreveport, Bossier, and Monroe are a morning's drive; south Louisiana is a multi-week facility job.
