Tile is only as good as what's underneath it. We handle the base the same way we handle every turf and batting-cage base: graded right, the first time.
Recommended
Concrete
4" minimum with rebar reinforcement. Most durable, maximizes playability, works under any tile system.
Alternative
Asphalt
Similar initial performance to concrete at a lower upfront cost, with a shorter lifespan.
Where required
Compacted stone
Used where concrete or asphalt isn't possible or allowed. Not our first recommendation, but it works.
The court is half the yard
Tile courts pair naturally with turf.
A tile court edge sitting on bare dirt or dying grass looks unfinished. We wrap the court in turf so the runback, sidelines, and surround stay green year-round, no mowing around net posts or fence lines. Same crew, same schedule, one contract.

Free assessment
We walk the yard, measure the space, and talk through tile systems and colors. You get a fixed-price proposal, not a range.

Design
Court layout, game lines, colors, and any custom logo work get locked in before ordering.

Base prep
Concrete, asphalt, or compacted stone, graded and poured by the same crew that builds our turf and batting-cage bases. This is the long pole in the schedule.
04
Tile + play
Tile install is usually a one-day job once the base has cured. Game lines, nets, and goals go in the same visit.
Pricing
Every VersaCourt build is priced on your court size, tile system, and base type.

VersaCourt Sport Court FAQ
Can a VersaCourt tile system go on my driveway?
Yes. The Active and Boost tile systems are rated for vehicle traffic and repeated rollover weight (Active is rated to 60,000 lbs). We regularly build driveway and parking-area courts with these systems, then re-open the space to vehicles when the court isn’t in use.
What base do you recommend?
A 4" concrete base with rebar reinforcement is VersaCourt’s own top recommendation, and it’s what we already pour for turf and batting-cage bases across DFW, so it’s a natural fit. Asphalt works too. Compacted stone is the fallback option where concrete or asphalt isn’t possible or allowed.
Do I need a permit?
Depends on your city and HOA. Court size, fencing, and lighting can all trigger review. We’re familiar with Parker, Tarrant, and the surrounding counties’ requirements and handle the paperwork as part of the build.
How long does installation take?
Laying the tile itself is usually a one-day job once the base is ready. Base prep, whether that’s a concrete pour, asphalt, or compacted stone, is the longer part and depends on excavation, access, and weather, same as any of our turf or hardscape builds.
Is the tile slippery when wet?
Like most outdoor surfaces it can be a little slick right when it’s wet, but the open-grid, self-draining design clears water fast, faster than concrete or asphalt, so it dries out well ahead of a typical rain-delay.

VersaCourt backs every tile system with a Limited Lifetime Warranty covering material and workmanship, plus a no-questions-asked replacement policy and a price match guarantee. Bearcat adds our standard install workmanship warranty on top of that.
